The Asian Pacific Society of Nephrology (APSN) aims to promote and encourage the advancement of scientific knowledge and research in all aspects of nephrology, and to promote the exchange and dissemination of this knowledge in the Asian-Pacific area. It has close links with all regional national societies of nephrology, and with the International Society of Nephrology (ISN). The APSN aims to cater specifically for the needs of the Nephrology community throughout the region, especially fostering the development of high quality nephrology in the less well-developed countries of the region.

We are only 2 months away until the APCN will welcome you to Perth and preparations are in full swing. The Scientific Program is available and is updated regularly. The Program is outstanding and includes Nobel Laureate Professor Peter Doherty, as well as a number of other world-class speakers. With over 600 abstracts submitted for consideration, the free papers program promises to be both diverse and of an extremely high quality.

Special thanks are due to Paolo Ferrari and the local organising committee; Angela Webster and the ANZSN Scientific Program and Education Committee; and Masaomi Nangaku and the APSN Scientific Program Committee who are responsible for the superb progress to date.

In line with APSN's mission, there will be special discounted registrations and travel grants for young nephrologists and trainees from emerging Asian Pacific countries. We hope to have attendees from every corner of our region.

It is clear that this world-class meeting will have high appeal for anyone interested in kidney disease, not just in the Asia Pacific region but globally. So start planning your trip now!

Yours sincerely
David Harris
President, APSN
